For this bespoke mezzanine project in Tolochenaz, our client called on BeHome Interiors Lausanne to bring to life their vision of making the most of the particularly high ceilings. Not to save space, but to add a touch of originality to their teenager’s bedroom. This beautiful 250m² flat, situated in a building dating from the early 1900s, does indeed feature ceilings that are nearly 3.50 metres high! So why not treat your children to something special?
A bespoke mezzanine to gain some height
With such a high ceiling, the possibilities are endless. Among our client’s requirements for this bespoke mezzanine project was the creation of an acoustic suspended ceiling. This provides sound insulation for the space whilst delivering the necessary lighting in a discreet and elegant manner. The first stage of the design process was to create a precise 3D model of the final look, including colour schemes for the walls and the layout of all the furniture.

A double walk-in wardrobe beneath the mezzanine
Two discreet walk-in wardrobes are situated beneath the mezzanine. With no visible handles, their hinged doors open with a simple push, revealing a cloakroom and ample storage space for the teenager’s wardrobe. The lighting, which is also discreet, switches on automatically, ensuring the space is well lit.
The subtle harmony behind the scenes
At the heart of every BeHome Interiors project lies meticulous coordination. For this bespoke mezzanine project, we meticulously coordinated the skills of the plasterer, painter and electrician to create a suspended ceiling, designed to conceal a series of spotlights. But for our client, there was just one point of contact: us. A safe mezzanine
To make the raised area safe, the choice of a safety net, stretched across a bespoke wooden frame, lends this space a lovely, original touch. The naturally warm light wood, combined with the matt white of the main structure and the navy blue walls, creates a beautiful harmony throughout the mezzanine.
Every comfort upstairs
Right at the top of the ladder, a lovely little nest has been created. A large, cosy bed takes up almost the entire space on the mezzanine. In place of a headboard, a bespoke bookcase has been fitted, housing comics, books and decorative items, allowing you to make the space your own. All that’s left to do is hang up a few posters.
