For the refurbishment of their home, these clients commissioned us to create several bespoke pieces of furniture (a TV unit, living room furniture, etc.), including two pieces for the hall. The one we are focusing on here is unique in that it is fitted under a flight of stairs. When space is at a premium, this sloping area is a godsend for providing a considerable amount of storage space. A project undertaken by BeHome Interiors in Luxembourg.

A hall unit to make use of the space under the stairs
This entrance unit, which forms part of a set of furniture commissioned by the client for various rooms in the house, goes largely unnoticed at first glance. It is in the nature of the project to have designed it to be discreet, making use of the available space under the stairs. Yet behind its white fronts, it conceals numerous nooks and crannies that provide storage for everything that previously had nowhere to go.
“We couldn’t stand the mess lying around in our hallway any longer. Fabrice suggested we make use of the space under the stairs and, with just a few strokes of his pencil, sketched out his ideas for us! He’s a real magician!”
A cluttered hallway
Let’s be honest, the hallway didn’t look much to write home about before. The lack of storage meant that all those things we’d rather hide away were on full display: the hoover, the laundry basket, the fuse box… With BeHome Interiors, there’s always a solution.
Turning empty space into bespoke furniture
During his visit to plan the overall layout of this house, our interior designer suggested sketching out this piece of furniture to fit under the stairs. Shortly afterwards, he was able to produce a 3D rendering of the details of his design. It is clear that by making the most of the space beneath this sloping ceiling, there are now compartments with sufficient depth to discreetly store everything that used to be lying about.
Bespoke 3D
In this image, the white veneer side panels, which extend the line of the staircase, add the finishing touch to this space and provide the discreet storage solutions the client was looking for. The client can already get a sense of what their entrance hall will look like – something that only a bespoke design can offer. A choice they won’t regret!
The well-designed entrance hall
Matching the colour of the staircase partition, this hall unit is surprisingly unobtrusive. With no handles, it blends into this passageway and becomes almost invisible. Behind its well-organised fronts and storage compartments, accessible with a simple push, the owners can now store all their ‘junk’ there.
