This project to redesign a house entrance in Luxembourg, carried out by BeHome Interiors, was intended to give this spacious entrance hall a sense of character. The entrance hall, which is often given little or no thought at all, ends up being cobbled together with mismatched furniture and becomes the opposite of a warm and welcoming space. Our clients gave us free rein to make the most of this area, which acts as the hub for the whole house. Here is what we devised and brought to life…
A truly stylish entrance design
The stunning sense of space offered by the entrance hall of this contemporary home during our first visit was an immediate source of inspiration. To the left as you entered, a modern, all-stainless-steel staircase was bathed in natural light from a skylight. To the right, a huge, long room would become the living room. The entrance design proposal presented by our interior architects immediately won us over with its boldness (the dominant use of black) and the harmony it created with the TV unit. The elongated lines created by the continuous shelves with concealed fixings accentuate the sense of depth and perspective and invite you to step into the heart of the home.
“Our spacious hall lacked warmth. We’d placed small pieces of furniture here and there for shoes and coats, but it all ended up looking untidy. We decided to contact an interior designer to come up with a completely new design for the hallway. We’re very pleased with what BeHome Interiors Luxembourg has created for us!”
Black and Light
From the moment you enter, this house has been designed as an invitation to light. Few partitions between the rooms and large floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that every nook and cranny is bathed in light. The choice of a dark colour for the fronts of the hall units in no way detracts from this impression. On the contrary, it adds a refined contrast and an extra touch of modernity to this interior. It is a black Primeboard melamine (ultra-matt soft-touch lacquer).
A range of bespoke storage solutions in the hallway
The design of this hallway is impressive, yet the smooth, handle-free push-to-open fronts lend it a subtle and refined air. The furniture that makes up the space – deep cupboards, shelving, spacious drawers with black-tinted aluminium recessed handles, a few coat hooks and attractive openings in the wall – all come together to create a beautifully harmonious whole. A light-coloured wooden bench invites you to sit down for a few moments.
The Claustra touch
To create a smooth transition between the entrance hall and the large room beyond, a solid wood screen in black – matching the doors – has been cleverly positioned at the end of the bespoke unit. It acts as a partition between the rooms without blocking the light that is so precious in this entrance hall. It adds a sense of openness and features attractive vertical black lines. A stylish finish that our interior designers love just as much as our clients do.
