Following renovation work on their home, BeHome Interiors in Luxembourg was commissioned by a music-loving couple to create several bespoke pieces of furniture (for the living room, for two hallways, etc.). This living room unit was designed alongside a TV unit and stems from the clients’ wish to place the piano at the centre and create a harmonious whole. An existing fireplace had to be taken into account in the design, and they also required plenty of storage space. Our architects even went so far as to suggest a few secret drawers…
A bespoke living room unit with a bench seat?
Whilst there is no doubt that this living room piece makes a striking stylistic statement, it must be said that the idea of the bench adds a unique touch that really makes sense. Whilst a fireplace is already in place, the unit is extended by a bench all the way to it to create a cosy reading nook. It would be a shame to miss out on the warmth of a good fire.

What did it look like before?
Let’s be honest, this living room was lacking a bit of… character. A worn-out sofa meant we couldn’t really enjoy the open fire. An air-conditioning duct in a strange colour loomed over the room. All our interior designer has to do now is let their imagination run wild…
Sketching a real living room piece of furniture
With a touchscreen tablet in hand, our interior designer sketched this full-height living room unit whilst carrying out a site survey. This bespoke project also includes a TV unit, which can be seen here. The overall design, the interplay of white and walnut, the bench seat and the numerous cupboards are already evident at this stage.
What does it look like in 3D?
The 3D design phase is the stage that often reassures and impresses the client. The interior designer can convey their ideas down to the smallest detail and position the furniture in the living room almost as if you were actually there. The client can realistically visualise themselves in their future bespoke furniture.
Open on all sides
Despite its rather closed-off appearance, this living room unit is actually very open… in spirit. Very bright, in fact. The handle-free push-to-open doors are fitted with stops that allow them to be opened and closed with a simple push. Whether they’re made of melamine or glass, all the compartments are easily accessible. The lighting lends an undeniable warmth to the whole piece.
Storage unit and bench
Why not combine practicality with style? Our customers have gained storage space beyond their wildest dreams. The depth of the living room unit, which matches that of the fireplace, sparked the idea of a bench running its entire length, as well as in the space between it and the fireplace. The unit goes far beyond its primary function and provides a peaceful and comfortable spot to relax, read or listen to music.
