This custom bookcase was crafted in Hostert by BeHome Interiors Luxembourg. It’s a fine example of a piece of furniture that, in addition to its practical use for storing books, serves as a wonderful way to dress up a wall that extends all the way to the ceiling and previously gave the impression of being empty. Our client chose to entrust us with the project after discovering projects on our website that are out of the ordinary and lend a room true character. For this book-loving family, a large bookcase with a ladder has found its place in the home.

Current Status
In the village of Hostert, many contemporary homes stand alongside the surrounding nature. Upon arriving at our client’s home, we were immediately captivated by the view from the living room, which overlooks the forest. A breathtaking, light-filled view gives this living space a rare charm and atmosphere. But the large gray wall seems so austere, so empty, and gives the space an “unfinished” feel.
“We already had experience working with fairly traditional custom furniture professionals. For this bookshelf project, we didn’t have a clear vision of what we wanted, but we were looking for a new contractor with modern ideas. BeHome Interiors put our minds at ease with their ability to create a piece of furniture that extends from floor to ceiling, following the slope of the roof. The project unfolded smoothly, with a focus on doing a great job. Whether it was Magali or the installer/carpenter Paulo, everyone was meticulous and attentive to detail. The result is stunning and blends perfectly with the room!”
The design of the Hostert Library begins in 3D
The winning design first won over our client in 3D. The unstructured look gives the bookcase undeniable originality and personality. The combination of white and wood, solid and open spaces, and the variety of shelf sizes create harmony with the rest of the room and, above all, with the slope of the roof, into which the unit fits seamlessly. The touch of orange adds a welcome splash of color. The niches, separate from the bookcase, extend the unit and serve as a link to the staircase, completely eliminating any sense of emptiness one might have felt.
An unconventional living room calls for an unconventional bookshelf…
In this light-filled living room with breathtaking views, this large wall that extends all the way to the ceiling served as a canvas on which BeHome Interiors let their creativity run wild. By viewing the roof’s slope and the staircase not as constraints but as assets, the deconstructed bookshelf fills the void, enhances the room, and showcases a beautiful collection of books and objects.
A piece of furniture that follows the shape of the roof
The art of custom design truly comes into its own in this type of project for a company like ours. One by one, the interior designer, the cabinetmaker, and the installer have the opportunity to showcase their creative and technical expertise. Here, the furniture is beautifully integrated into the roof structure, creating perfect harmony.
A Ladder to Access All of Culture
Far from being a whimsical addition, the ladder is a practical and stylish accessory that adds (and allows for) even more height to the bookcase. With its understated white finish, it lets the bookcase itself take center stage. The handle-less doors open with a simple push thanks to the convenient push-to-open mechanism.
A touch of orange in the bookcase
The bookcase’s dominant white and wood tones give it a contemporary, timeless look. However, a few unconventional modules break up this perfection… Our client in Hostert was immediately won over by this idea, which makes her piece of furniture unique in her unconventional living room.
