The design of this bespoke bookcase, created in Lintgen by our team in Luxembourg, had to fulfil several requirements. It had to blend in harmoniously with the style and existing furniture in the room, and, of course, be able to accommodate ‘a mountain of books’, as the client put it. It was an ambitious project for this couple, who hadn’t found a professional they could trust until a colleague recommended BeHome Interiors. Measuring 2.49 metres high, 4.67 metres wide and 40 cm deep, this bespoke unit fills an entire wall to the nearest millimetre. The 3D design stage – whether for a single piece of furniture or a complete living room layout – is crucial. This is where the future of the bookcase takes shape. Through constructive discussions with the client, the bespoke piece of furniture must reflect exactly what they want in terms of shape and style. But the designer has also been able to guide the client on matters of functionality and placement.
This beautiful wall space, measuring nearly 12 m², has not only been beautifully adorned with a bespoke bookcase, but this piece – even though it has only just been installed – is already lending real character and style to this modern living room. Numerous novels, comic books and school textbooks in French and other languages will fill the unit’s shelves, giving culture pride of place.
“Having been looking for a bespoke furniture specialist for months, we were lucky enough to receive a recommendation from a colleague who suggested BeHome Interiors Luxembourg, a company we hadn’t heard of before. What a relief it was to have such a company support us with our bookcase project: our contact was clear, friendly and efficient, always ready to answer our questions and easy to get hold of. The bookcase has a real ‘Wow!’ effect on all our guests, and even our parents.”
A bookcase worthy of the name in Lintgen
How do you neatly organise a mountain of books (as the client described his collection) on a bookcase? Every book had to have its own place. A bespoke design really allows you to take into account the different dimensions, the space required for each collection, and to set aside areas for collectables.
A bookcase full of books and… Lego sets
There are books, and then there are collectables, which look far better displayed on a lovely shelf than tucked away in a box. The central glass shelves provide a lovely spot on the bookcase to showcase a number of collectable Lego sets and stand out beautifully against the rest of the bespoke unit.
Books on every floor
Although it looks sturdy, this bespoke bookcase is no less elegant. The variety of shelf heights gives it a less austere appearance, making you want to delve in and unearth a literary gem.
And what about storage?
The lower section consists of closed drawers that open with a simple push. Although very discreet, they offer plenty of welcome, deep storage space. A bookcase is the perfect way to make the most of this potential, as books placed close to the floor often gather dust or get damaged more quickly.
