This very elegant and understated bespoke black TV unit is enhanced by a wall panelling made from lacquered natural wood slats. It’s just a short step from a white wall to a bespoke TV unit
Modern flats, whether in Luxembourg or elsewhere, are often laid out in a very boxy style and feature white walls that give the home a clinical feel. If you want to bring a unique atmosphere to your living room, having a bespoke TV unit made is the perfect opportunity to dress up a wall and give it real character. In this spacious room, the wall has been repainted black and a screen covers a large section of the wall, creating a stunning effect.

Wall panelling for a neatly integrated screen
Gone is the original white wall. It was first painted in an elegant matt black, then the varnished wooden latticework was fitted to cover the entire wall surface. The slats were cut to the nearest millimetre to follow the contours of the base unit and create a bespoke recess for the HD TV. The armchair, light fitting and décor add the finishing touches and give the whole space a look that’s both retro and modern.
A living room enhanced by black
Choosing a dominant colour for a wall can be a source of lively debate. White, a bright colour, a dark colour? Black is rarely the first choice. Yet it lends a chic, even luxurious, feel to an interior, whether modern or traditional. Paired with a high-quality screen, it lends this project a striking contrast and an atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression. Black features on the bespoke furniture and, of course, on the television. Subtle touches of white and the light create reflections and shadows that produce a stunning effect.
Elegant materials for this TV unit
The choice of materials was key to this project. The contrast in colours, the precision of the bespoke cuts and the ambient lighting all contribute to the appeal of this TV unit, the lower section of which is made from matt black melamine-faced chipboard and the screen from oak veneer. Another black storage unit has been fitted to the adjacent wall. The armchairs and chairs have been carefully selected to create a sense of total harmony within the space.
