Our tips for designing a large entrance hall
The entrance hall is the first impression someone gets when they step through your front door, so it’s all the more important to get its layout right! Be careful not to make certain mistakes.
1. Mistakes to avoid
- ❌ Going overboard: be careful not to clutter up your hallway – if you put too many freestanding pieces of furniture or too many decorations on the walls, you risk making a style mistake!
- ❌ White everywhere: white tends to make spaces look bigger, so if your hallway is already large enough, consider other colours to create a more welcoming and less clinical space. 🏥
- ❌ Carpet: absolutely to be avoided! If you were thinking of laying carpet, get that idea out of your head. When it comes to the big spring clean, you’ll regret it. 🧹
2. Choosing the right colour of paint for your walls
- 🔥 For a warm and welcoming entrance hall, use shades of beige or taupe to create a cosy space that’s still elegant.
- 😵 For a bold look, you could paint the walls in dark colours. Black, navy blue or emerald green, for example.
- 🌱 For a natural look, use pastel colours such as green, which will go perfectly with natural wood furniture.
3. Create bespoke hall furniture
As well as being able to personalise your space from top to bottom with a bespoke hall unit, you can ensure that the space is used to its full potential – you can never have too much storage!
In a large hall, make the most of the full height of the walls and install units that make the most of your hall’s potential. You can create the atmosphere you want by customising the fronts of a walk-in wardrobe or the shelves of a bookcase.
You could also have a bespoke hall bench to make the hallway more welcoming and (incidentally) to sit down whilst putting on your shoes.
