Our tips for designing a small hallway
If there’s one place where you really mustn’t make any mistakes, it’s when it comes to the first impression your home makes: the entrance hall.
1. Mistakes to avoid
- ❌ Choosing colours that are too dark: painting the walls in dark colours can make the hallway feel even more cramped and unwelcoming.
- ❌ Using furniture that’s too bulky: if you don’t have much space to begin with, you might as well not clutter it up. Opt for shallow pieces of furniture and make the most of the vertical space.
- ❌ Neglecting practicality: it can be tempting to swap practicality for something that looks really good, can’t it? In the long run, the thing that looks really good will lose its appeal and you’ll miss the practicality.
2. Choosing the right colour of paint for your walls
- ⬜ Bright white: it reflects both natural and artificial light, making your hallway brighter and more spacious.
Add splashes of colour with accessories (rugs, framed mirrors or coat hooks, etc.). - 🤗 Soft pastels: for a touch of colour whilst maintaining a light and airy atmosphere. Pastel shades create a soothing and welcoming effect.
